SKEA DaKine Wine & Dine

November 18, 2017

Children are natural artists. They love art, dance, music, drama and activities that build their brains, encourage tolerance, cooperation, and provide for self expression with self knowledge. In our schools as well as in our rural community; there are precious few resources available for children to experience and come together for the pure fun and joy of a creative endeavor.

Here's where SKEA enters the picture. For over 36 years we have provided high quality activities in the arts to over 1,000 students annually through two main programs: the Art of Learning (our school program), and Art Camps for children and teens during the school breaks. Our programs give young people as well as adults and families, the opportunity to strengthen their talents or learn new things with our wonderful ongoing classes and workshops, and community events like the Mauka Talent Show, Music on the Lawn, and Quilt Show.

Making it happen every year, however, requires support from many sources, and we are now making plans for DA KINE WINE & DINE, our annual wine tasting fundraiser. This always sold-out event will be held November 18 at the beautiful Napo`opo`o home of Tammy Shafer-Walker and Joe Krawczak. Guests will enjoy wonderful wines, food, live music, entertainment, and a gorgeous view of Kealakekua Bay.

We are seeking donated items and /or monetary contributions for the Silent Auction. Can we count on you to give the gift of the creative experience to our community, especially the young people of
South Kona?

Perhaps you could provide a certificate for your service, a gift certificate for your business, an art piece in any medium, or any new or vintage item. Your contribution will help us keep our doors open as a cultural gathering place for our isolated South Kona community. You may call the office to arrange a drop-off or pick-up of larger items, or speak to any board member. Certificates
may be sent to the address above.

If you are not able to donate an auction item, perhaps you would consider making a monetary donation in any amount. We would be very grateful, and will list you as a sponsor in our program.

Mahalo nui loa for your support of the arts in our community. This year marks our 36th anniversary at our site in Honaunau. We love being a part of the vibrant community of South Kona and will continue to work hard to provide healthful, creative, and educational activities for people of all ages.

With aloha, The Society for Kona's Education & Arts.
